QIIB opens new branch at Al-Mirqab

    • State of the art branch in a prime Doha locality to offer both retail and corporate services.

     Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) opened its newest branch at Al-Mirqab today.

    QIIB chairman His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al-Thani opened the branch by cutting ribbon in the presence of several dignitaries.

    His Excellency Sheikh Khalid bin Thani Al-Thani called upon QIIB employees to adhere to the bank resolve to offer the best services to customers- efficiently, quickly and with full dedication.

    QIIB is a customer-centric bank and is now growing fast as one of the largest Islamic banks in the Middle East.

    The ceremony was attended by the QIIB Chief Executive Officer, Mr.Abdulbasit A.Al-Shaibei and General Manager (Banking Services), Mr.Jamal Al-Jamal.

    Mr. Abdulbasit A.Al-Shaibei said the Al-Mirqab branch would provide all banking services now being offered by QIIB branches across Qatar. With Al-Mirqab opening, QIIB now has 12 branches across Qatar.

    Mr.Abdulbasit A.Al-Shaibei said the Al-Mirqab opening was in line with QIIB policy of being present in all districts of Qatar. This would enable QIIB to be an active participant in Qatar’s multi-pronged development.

    Mr.Jamal Al-Jamal said the Al-Mirqab branch would provide both retail and corporate services. Experienced staff members have been appointed to the branch to provide the best possible service to QIIB customers. The branch is located at Al-Mirqab, an important location within Doha.

    Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) has posted 28.2% rise in first-quarter 2008 net profit to QR135.4mn compared with QR105.6mn in the same period last year. 

    QIIB’s total assets jumped to QR10.9bn compared with QR8.8bn in 2007. Shareholders’ equity totalled QR2.5bn compared with QR1.9bn in the same period last year: an increase of 28%.

    Qatar International Islamic Bank (QIIB) recently decided to increase its capital by 40% through a rights issue.

    The rights issue would be on offer for two weeks starting from December 22.

    QIIB has also decided to issue eight for ten bonus shares to its shareholders.
