CEO of QIIB meets with His Excellency Jon Wilks, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Doha

His Excellency Mr. Jon Wilks, Ambassador of the United Kingdom in Doha, visited the headquarters of the QIIB, where he was received by Dr. Abdulbasit Ahmad al-Shaibi, Chief Executive Officer of the bank.

Dr. Al-Shaibei welcomed His Excellency Mr. Wilks and the accompanying delegation and emphasised that the economic and banking relations between Qatar and the United Kingdom constituted a model for the business sector, wherein, it has been able to successfully contribute and make a difference and consolidate bilateral relationship.

In the meeting with the British ambassador, the QIIB Chief Executive Officer talked about the strength of the Qatari economy and the high confidence it enjoys regionally and globally, which was strongly reflected on the performance of the Qatari banking sector in general.

The Qatari banking sector, Dr. al-Shaibei noted, was able to achieve the highest levels of credit rating and price its financial instruments in international markets at the best known levels.

Dr. Al-Shaibei also spoke about the role of QIIB as part of the Qatari banking sector and said QIIB was able to maintain a strong financial level that enabled it to gain distinguished reputation, forge numerous partnerships, regionally and internationally, and undertake very successful projects.

Specifically, he noted the listing of two sukuks by QIIB last year on the London Stock Exchange (LSE) with a value of $300 million and $500 million respectively.

On his part, His Excellency Mr. Jon Wilks thanked Dr. Al-Shaibei for the warm reception extended to him and the accompanying delegation during their visit to the QIIB headquarters.

He expressed confidence that QIIB will continue to strengthen its position in the banking market.

His Excellency Mr. Jon Wilks welcomed the investments by QIIB in the United Kingdom, which he said contributes to strengthening economic and banking relationship between the two countries.
